The Sony PD150 has a built in intervalometer which, without checking the manual, I'm pretty sure can record single frames. It certainly allows for alot more controls for time lapse than on previous Sonys.
I know the VX1000 can only record a minimum of 2 frames at a time.

Or you could link the camera to Premiere, and have it record stop motion from the camera via firewire connection

For stop motion in a digital environment, it works well to simply use a normal digital camera. It's MADE for single frames, and any decent editing environment will have no trouble importing/editing the files it produces.
Also, a $300 still cam will produce better single frames than a $4000 DV cam.

that's a very good point.
DV res is 720 x 576 (PAL), but a digi still cam is made to do resolutions to match 35mm (ie somewhere around 1500 x 1500), esp. the latest batch of mega-mega-megapixel cameras.
go eddie!

hi there
Thanks for the comments, I thought as much. But my computer will die if I tried to animate 1500x1500 images on it
Cheers

Hello Alex
Ill be using Premier or FCP, I might even use Imovie, if it can handle it.

Hello Eddie, does the High Res digital still file easily convert to Non-linear?
Is it a straight "fire-wire in" transfer, or does it have to be done some other way because this is no longer standard resolution video that is being transfered/edited?
